The PGA of America is the world’s largest working sports organization, comprised of 28,000 men and women golf Professionals who are the recognized experts in growing, teaching and managing the game of golf, while serving millions of people throughout its 41 PGA Sections nationwide. Since its founding in 1916, The PGA of America has enhanced its leadership position by growing the game of golf through its premier spectator events, world-class education and training programs, significant philanthropic outreach initiatives, and award-winning golf promotions.
The mission of the Minnesota PGA is to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry. The Minnesota PGA will accomplish this mission by enhancing the skills of its professionals and the opportunities for amateurs, employers, manufacturers, employees, and the public. In so doing, the Minnesota PGA will elevate the standards of the golf professional’s vocation, enhance the economic well-being of the individual member, stimulate interest in the game of golf, and promote the overall vitality of the game. The Minnesota PGA geographic region includes the entire states of Minnesota and North Dakota; South Dakota (fewer areas surrounding cities of Rapid City, Vermillion, and Yankton); and a portion of Western Wisconsin that includes St. Croix County and Superior, Wisconsin.
The Mission of the Dakota Chapter is to provide education, tournaments, awards and business related activities to the members of the Dakota Chapter of the Minnesota Section PGA. The Dakota Chapter is open to any PGA Member or Professional in the Minnesota Section in good standing, including Life Members.
The mission of the Assistants’ Chapter is to foster an environment that allows our members to grow professionally by creating a unique culture amongst its members and by offering educational opportunities, mentoring programs, community initiative programs and a competitive tournament series. The Assistants’ Chapter is open to all A-8 and B classifications.
There are two paths to becoming a PGA Member, the University Program, and the Associate Program.
To become a PGA Member, you’ll need to become a registered Associate before completing the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) Program–an award-winning educational program designed for aspiring PGA Professionals that focuses on the People, the Business and the Game.
The PGA Golf Management University Program provides extensive classroom courses, internship experience, and opportunities for player development in a four-and-one-half to five-year program for aspiring PGA Professionals. Offered at 18 universities nationwide, the University Program allows students to earn a degree in areas such as Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Administration, Recreation and Park Management, providing them with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the golf industry.
