Assistant’s Grand Slam to Honor Minnesota PGA Hall of Fame Members
This season we are honored to be dedicating traveling trophies in recognition of the life-long commitment and dedication of four
Minnesota PGA Hall of Fame members. The Champions of four selected events this year will be presented with the trophy and it will be
theirs to display at their home club for the remainder of the season. The trophies will be awarded at the following events:
Wally Mund Cup at Somerby Golf Club on April 20, Ray Vennewitz, Sr. Cup at StoneRidge / White Eagle on May 18, Bill Kidd, Jr.
Cup at Interlachen Country Club on June 15, and the Les Bolstad Cup at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club on August 3.
2010 APPRENTICE PLAYING ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for playing privileges beginning in 2010 an apprentice must attend one of the following prior to competing in Section events:
1. Attend the 2009 Section or Dakota Chapter Fall Meeting or the 2010 Section or Dakota Chapter Spring Meeting.
2. Attend the Apprentice Orientation (only good one time).
3. Attend the 2010 Assistant’s Spring Meeting.
Effective Date:
September 21, 2009 (Dakota Chapter Fall Meeting) through to the 2010 Assistants’ Spring Meeting.

2009 BIRDIES FOR BIGS
The Assistant's Chapter of the Minnesota PGA once again raised funds to benefit the children of our communities through the “Birdies For Bigs” Program. A donation of $10 for every birdie made during the 2009 Assistant’s Chapter season will be made to The Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program of The Greater Twin Cities. We are happy to announce that this season a total of 486 birdies were made. At the Fall Meeting, Rory Luck and Michael Herzog presented a check in the amount of $4,860 to Big Brothers/Big Sisters representative, Kimberlee Sinclair. Thank you to all of the Minnesota PGA Assistant Professionals who participated in these events and contributed to another successful year.
MEYERS WINS ASSISTANT´S MATCH PLAY
In a weather delayed Championship, Ben Meyers of Medina G&CC was able to put together eight birdies over 13 holes in defeating Matt Norgaard of Somerby GC 6&5 in the finals of the Assistant´s Match Play Championship at Edina CC.Results
MEYERS/LUCK WIN 6-6-6
The team of Ben Meyers from Medina G&CC and Rory Luck from Interlachen CC shot a 1-under par 71 to win the Assistant´s 6-6-6 Event at The Minikahda Club. Finishing in second place was the team of Brent Snyder from Troy Burne GC and Kellie Hoiness from The Minikahda Club.Results
MINNESOTA SECTION CALLAWAY GOLF ASSISTANT CHAMPIONSHIP
Assistant Professional Ben Meyers from Medina G&CC shot a 2-under par 142 and survived a two-hole playoff with Brent Smith from Westward Ho CC to win the 2009 Minnesota Section Callaway Golf Assistant Championship at Medina Golf and Country Club. Along with Meyers and Smith, Chris Borgen from Hastings CC and Kris Kroetsch from Fargo CC will all advance to the Callaway Golf PGA Assistant Championship being held October 1-4, 2009 at PGA Golf Club in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Special thanks to Callaway Golf and local representatives Ryan Archer, Scott Burnett, John Heitala, and Pat Scott for supporting the event. Results
BORGEN WINS ASSISTANT´S EVENT #5
Chris Borgen of Hastings CC shot a 1-under par 71 and survived a playoff with Jeff Crouch of Island View GC at Dacotah Ridge GC to win his second Assistant´s Event of the year. Finishing in a tie for third at even par were Tyler Brewton, Tim Brovold and John Grieg. Final Results
BAKKEN WINS ASSISTANT´S EVENT #4
Ryan Bakken of Eastwood GC shot 3-under par 69 at Rush Creek GC to win his second Assistant´s Event of the year by four shots. Finishing in a tie for second at 1-over par 73 were Chris Borgen, Mike Flaherty, Pete LeCoursiere, Brian Paulson and Brent Snyder. Special thanks to Rudy Regalado and Andrew Paulson of Clevelang Golf/Srixon for their support.

Chris Borgen of Hastings CC shot a 2-under par 70 to win the third Assistant's Event of 2009 at Interlachen Country Club. Finishing in a tie for second two shots back at even-par 72 were Matt Norgaard of Somerby GC and Chris Bailey of North Oaks GC.

BAKKEN WINS ASSISTANT´S CHALLENGE #2
Ryan Bakken of Eastwood GC shot a 2-over par 74 and birdied the first playoff hole against Chris Borgen of Hastings CC to win the second Assistant´s Event of 2009 at StoneRidge GC. Finishing in a tie for third one shot back at 3-over par 75 was Thaddeus Bloberger of Midland Hills CC and Ben Meyers of Medina G&CC.
