I cannot believe that it is the middle of August already and the Section Professional Championship is just around the corner.
The 36-hole event will include a Pro-Pro the day before on Tuesday, August 26th, so make sure to find a partner for your
practice round and play. Thanks to all who have signed up for the event and the best of luck to you. Also, many
thanks in advance to David Nordeen and Brian Jones at Somerby Golf Club for hosting this year’s event, I also want to
thank the Tournament Committee for all they do in providing our Section Professionals with opportunities to play in so many wonderful events.

MINNESOTA SECTION MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP |

Dale Jones of Mendakota CC won his first Minnesota Section PGA Match Play Championship by defeating Don Berry of Edinburgh USA 4&3. Jones advanced to the final by defeating Todd Kolb of Willow Run GC 6&5 while Berry advanced with a 3&2 victory over Chris Peterson of Northfield GC in the semifinals. The Match Play Championship is supported by the PGA Tour and Under Armour. Match Play Results
ASSISTANT´S MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

Marshall Hoiness of the Minikahda Club defeated Tyler Brewton of Mississippi Dunes GL 4&2 for the 2008 title in the Minnesota Section Assistant´s Match Play Championship held at the Minikahda Club October 7th-8th. Special thanks to Under Armour and PGA Tour for supporting the event. Final Results
ASHWORTH FACILITY TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

The Rush Creek Golf Club team of Derek Stendahl and Aaron Jacobson shot a 7-under par 65 to win the 2008 Ashworth Facility Team Championship presented by Srixon at Alexandria Country Club in Alexandria, MN September 29th. Finishing in a tie for second three shots back were the teams of Jeff Drimel and Ben Meyers from Medina G&CC, Dick Walters and John Carlson of Wayzata CC and Greg Jones and Adam Chandler of Minnehaha CC. Special thanks to John Hietala and Chad Feunffinger of Ashworth and Andrew Paulson of Srixon for supporting the event. Final Results
MINNESOTA SENIOR PGA MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
 Craig Waryan
Craig Waryan of Edinburgh USA defeated Jim Manthis of Midland Hills Country Club September 23rd for the 2008 title in the Minnesota PGA Senior Match Play Championship at North Oaks Golf Club in North Oaks, MN. In a rain-soaked contest, Waryan emerged with a 5&4 victory to claim his second Senior Match Play title since 1999. Waryan slowly built a 2-up lead during the first nine holes as each competitor adjusted to the unfavarably wet conditions. Waryan took control of the match early on the back nine before closing out Manthis on the 15th hole. Special thanks to the PGA Tour and Under Armour for supporting the event Final Match Results
MINNESOTA SENIOR PGA PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
 Bill Israelson
Bill Israelson of Vintage GC shot a second round even-par 71 for a two-day total of 2-over par 144 to win the 2008 Minnesota Senior PGA Professional Championship at Northland CC. Finishing three shots back in second place was Brad Schmierer of Hastings CC. Defending champion Mike Barge of Hazeltine National GC was five shots back at 149. Along with Israelson, Schmierer and Barge, Mark Peterson of Brackett´s Crossing CC (148), Mike Zinni of Mankato GC (149) and Joe O´Connor of Northland CC (155) will advance to participate in the PGA Senior Professional Championship being held October 2-5, 2008 at Toscana CC and Andalusia CC in Palm Springs, CA. SORENSON WINS MINNESOTA PGA PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Jeff Sorenson of Columbia Learning Center shot a second round 3-under par 69 for a two-day total of 8-under par 136 to win his second Minnesota PGA Professional Championship in three years at Somerby Golf Club in Byron, MN. Finishing in a tie for second four shots back at 4-under par 140 were Jay Norman of Dellwood Hills GC and Craig Brischke of Tanners Brook GC. Defending champion Don Berry of Edinburgh USA finished in a tie for eighth at 1-under par 143. The top seven professionals advanced to participate in the 2009 Professional National Championship being held next June at Twin Warriors GC and Santa Ana GC in New Mexico. Joining Sorenson, Brischke and Norman are Todd Kolb of Willow Run GC (3-under par 141), Ty Armstrong of Glen Lake GC (3-under par 141), Brad Schmierer of Hastings CC (2-under par 142) and David Tentis of Troy Burne GC (2-under par 142). Those seven will have a chance to qualify for the 2009 PGA Championship being held next August at Hazletine National GC in Chaska, MN. TAYLOR MADE ADIDAS ASSISTANT CHAMPIONSHIP
 Tim Johnson
Tim Johnson from The Legacy Courses at Cragun´s shot a two round total of 1-under par 143 to capture his first Minnesota PGA Assistant Professional Championship September 2nd at The Classic at Madden´s in Brainerd, MN. Finishing alone in second place four shots back at 3-over par 147 was John Carlson of Wayzata CC. Defending champion Kris Kroetsch of Fargo CC finished tied for seventh at 10-over par 154. The top four players advance to participate in the 2008 TaylorMade adidas golf Assistant Professional Championship, October 30-November 2, 2008 at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. Joining Johnson and Carlson are Ben Meyers of Medina G&CC and Eddie Wynne of StoneRidge GC, who tied for third at 5-over par 149. Special thanks to Taylor Made Adidas, Mike Berling and Julie Oerther for supporting the Championship. Final Results
